Musiqa celebrated the conclusion of its 15th anniversary season at its Spark Spring Benefit, at the Historic Fires Station #2, beautifully restored home of Anne Whitlock and Michael Skelly. Chaired by Judy Nyquist and honoring Mimi Kilgore, the enchanting event raised record funds and also launched Musiqa’s new patron society, the Composer Circle, which supports its ambitious commissioning program.
Guests were treated to sumptuous bites from Canopy and a signature cocktail designed and provided by Hendrick’s Gin. Attendees were delighted by performances of previous commissions “Tsakapa Chatashu” for tenor saxophone and percussion by composer Charles Halka, and “Mark Flood Miniatures” for saxophone quartet by composer Joel Love, each commissioned by Musiqa.
