HOUSTON, TX (March 1, 2016) Musiqa, the composer-led chamber music non-profit, has selected its new Executive Director. Following a six-month search, Board President Barbara Ostdiek announced this week that Brian Hodge would replace Joseph R. Wilson in this leadership role.
“I am delighted to share that we have hired Mr. Brian Hodge. Brian has nearly 20 years of experience in creative and marketing roles in the profit and not-for-profit sectors in addition to experience as a founder and director of not-for-profit arts organizations,” stated Ostdiek. “Brian is passionate about the arts and he has a clear understanding of what it takes for a not-for-profit organization to be successful in accomplishing its mission.”
Mr. Hodge has a BA in art with a concentration in graphic design from Yale University and a Masters of Liberal Arts in general management from Harvard. He moved to Houston with his family in 2012. He has held administrative or director –level roles in non-profits including The Printing Museum, (Houston), Summer Institute of the Arts (New York & Los Angeles), Multicultural Music Group (New York).
He will officially take the reigns from Mr. Wilson in mid-March. Mr. Wilson announced his intent to leave Musiqa in summer of 2015 to allow the board time to find a qualified replacement. He is leaving to spend more time with his family and travel.
“Joe came out of retirement to lead Musiqa for the past four years,” stated Musiqa Artistic Director Anthony Brandt. “During that time, Musiqa won two national awards for Adventurous Programming, performed in new venues, collaborated with new partners, and grew our audiences. He leaves a rich legacy for which we are all extremely grateful. We are excited to begin Musiqa’s next chapter with Brian and look forward to his leadership, creativity and strong business sense guiding us for years to come.”
