Inner Voices
Musiqa and Asia Society Texas are proud to present a concert of deeply moving new music by Karim Al-Zand, Marcus Karl Maroney, and Kinnan Abou-afach, ranging from a large-scale chamber opera to smaller ensembles exploring the unique inner voices and stories of people from Yemen, Syria, the US and everywhere between. Tickets are on sale now.

Deep-Sky Objects / Stars
Experience the humanity and splendor of outer space with DEEP-SKY OBJECTS/STARS, an album of two works for soprano and ensemble by Musiqa. This album celebrates our long history of commissioning new works: Sebastian Currier’s Deep-Sky Objects, with lyrics from Sarah Manguso’s poetry, reimagines the great Romantic song cycles with electronic sounds and a tale of intergalactic longing. Trevor Weston’s Stars, with lyrics from Robert Hayden’s poetry, ponders the night sky and its profound impact on thought through the ages. The official release is April 4, 2025, but you can pre-order your copy now below!

Divine Voices
Mercury and Musiqa join forces in a pairing of motets by Vicente Lusitano, a Portuguese artist of the 1500s thought to be the first Black published composer, with new works by Brian Nabors, Nkeiru Okoye and Kyle Rivera commissioned especially for this collaboration. Not to be missed.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration of the Year
Musiqa is thrilled to be honored for its 2024 collaboration with NobleMotion Dance and the University of Houston’s BRAIN Center. According to Chamber Music America, “Musiqa’s Meeting of Minds combined artistic performance—music and dance—with science that explores the neural dynamics of social interaction by tracing a relationship’s transformation from polarization to mutual understanding.”
