Trevor Weston’s music has been called a “gently syncopated marriage of intellect and feeling.” (Detroit Free Press) In 2019 his Juba for Strings won the 2019 Sonori/New Orleans Chamber Orchestra Composition Competition. Musiqa has commissioned him to create a new work, based on the poetry of Robert Hayden, to premiere in the fall of 2020. This commission has been made possible by the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program, with generous funding provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Chamber Music America Endowment Fund.
