Pierre Jalbert

Our twentieth anniversary season pays tribute to a few of our favorite past productions and contributors while bringing multiple new commissions and premieres to the stage. Composer Pierre Jalbert has been on our artist board from the very beginning, helping to shape our unique mission, and has received the Rome Prize, the BBC Masterpiece Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship among many other awards for his contributions to modern chamber music repertory. His Piano Quintet was first performed by the Jupiter String Quartet, and their recording of it was hailed as proof that “even classical music has an underground and that it’s alive and well.” (Midwest Record Review) Musiqa is proud to present the Houston premiere of this beautiful composition.
